Tammie S. Hopper became Lake County Trustee in 1998 and has honorably held the office for the past 21 years. 

Tammie S. Hopper was named Outstanding Trustee of the Year “2010” by the County Officials Association of Tennessee. This award is given to one Trustee from across all 95 counties in the state.  Selection criteria is generally based on leadership qualities and service with professionalism of the highest regard in the operation of their own County office.  Tammie has been a proven commodity in her tenure as Lake County Trustee.  She was also chosen as Trustee of the year out of the 21 Counties in West Tennessee by members of the West Tennessee Trustee’s Association.

Ms. Hopper earned the title of Certified Public Administrator with the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service in 2003 after completing the County Officials Certificate Training program and has completed the required training annually to maintain that certification.

In 2013, she successfully completed the Local Government Leadership Program through the University of Tennessee Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership and was awarded the Chancellor’s Certificate in Public Administration.  Ms. Hopper received the title of Government Finance Officer obtained through the University of Missouri, St. Louis and earned the title of Finance Executive in July of 2017 which was made possible through her membership and participation with the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers and Finance Officers.  Tammie currently serves as one of two state delegates chosen to represent the state of Tennessee on the national level and has held that honor for the past few years.

Ms. Hopper is currently a member in good standing of the County Officials Association of Tennessee, past secretary of the Tennessee County Trustee’s Association and past president of the West Tennessee Trustee’s Association.   She is a past Community Liaison Leader for the Lake County School Advisory Council and completed the Lake County Leadership Program in 2004.  She has served on numerous boards and associations as well as receiving the honor of being the emcee for the local Relay for Life Event for 13 years. Tammie was also an employee of the local public access channel (Channel 2 News) from 1996-1998 keeping local residents up to date on community events and church announcements often being referred to as the “Church Lady”.

In cooperation with YMCA of Dyer County CEO, Randy Butler, in 2000, Tammie established a satellite YMCA in Lake County to support the youth and people of the community.  During the next four years, she served as the Coordinator, Organizer, Board Member and Director. Lake County citizens were involved in numerous activities during this time including youth Soccer, Mother/Daughter Painting classes and even an Adult Kickball league.  She also organized a Drama Club and Directed the play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” that was a huge success and later went on to Direct the Adult Play “Murder on the Oriental Rug” that also received great reviews.

Tammie S. Hopper is passionate about the Lake County people and surrounding community.  She eagerly accepts new challenges and thrives on ideas that bring leaders and community together.  Her philosophy on life is a quote by Author and Educator, Stephen Covey, “What you do has far greater impact than what you say.” 

Tammie is the mother of two children, Russell Hopper who is currently employed as a lineman for Gibson Electric Company in Tiptonville and her daughter Claire Hopper who is currently pursuing a career as a dental hygienist through Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Covington.  Russell and Claire are both graduates of Lake County High School.
