NOTICE TO SEVIER COUNTY TAXPAYERS

 

2022 TAXES

2022 Sevier County property taxes are due and payable through February 28, 2023.  In accordance with state law, interest in the amount of 1.5% will be added per month beginning March 1, 2023.

 

2021 TAXES

2021 property taxes are delinquent.  Interest of 19.5% is added the month of March.  This amount is in compliance with the state law. Payments must be received in the Sevier County Trustee’s Office by March 31, 2023.  Postmark will not be accepted. You are advised that after March 31, 2023 additional interest and costs will be imposed in consequence of suits to be filed for the enforcement of a lien against land for property taxes.  Until the filing of such suits, taxes may be paid in our office. All unpaid 2021 taxes will be filed and transferred to the Sevier County Chancery Court with the delinquent tax attorney at the end of the work day on March 31, 2023

A convenience fee of 2.5% is charged to the cardholder for processing a credit/debit card payment or a flat $1.00 for an e-check payment. None of this fee is retained by Sevier County. You will have an opportunity to see what the fee will be before completing your payment.

 

What happens if I miss the tax payment deadline?

From the first day of each month beginning March 1st, interest of 1.5 percent per month (18 percent annually) is added to your base tax amount. If the Post Office fails to postmark your payment by the date due, it is considered a late payment. This applies even if you mail your payment on time. For mail-in payments, office meter dates are not accepted. Online property tax payments are recognized as paid on the date of the online transaction.
